Financial Oversight
Financial Oversight is an important part of leading an organization – we need good financial information and tools to make sound strategic decisions about our work. We also need it for conversations with our community including our Boards, leadership teams, and staff.
This session focused on how organizations are approaching financial oversight and the tools and practices that you can use at your own organization to track and maintain oversight of the finances and financial goals and milestones.
Financial Planning, Reporting, and Budgeting
Organizations are using budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning to support their visionary work. This session looks at these questions and more:
How do we plan while the future is uncertain?
How do I decide who should be driving the planning process and who should be participating?
How do I talk with my board when my budget isn’t breaking-even?
Presenters shared stories from organizations that have used planning as a means of aligning the board around strategic priorities, how organizations have used financial planning to get clear about their goals and values, and the wins and challenges they encountered along the way. The session also looks at how to use tools and metrics to make planning easier and keep our organizations accountable to our intentions and goals.
