Science of Hope

Are you interested in learning more about hope? Science of Hope virtual class coming up! The first 5 people to sign up with get a free copy of Hope Rising by Casey Gwinn and Chan Hellman.

"Hope is measurable. Hope is malleable. Hope changes lives. Hope Rising provides a roadmap to measure hope in your life, assess what may have robbed you of the power of hope, and then provides strategies to increase hope. It challenges every reader to be transparent and honest about their own stories of struggle and adversity, calls for the end of shame and blame in addressing the struggles of those who have experienced trauma, illness, or abuse, and provides practical ways to increase your Hope score and thrive because of it."

Kitsap Strong's mission to bring hope to communities all over WA through their virtual presentation on Science of Hope is coming to VASHON! In the spring of 2021, OSPI and Kitsap Strong started a Hope Science pilot project at schools in Kitsap County. With support from ESSER funding secured in the fall of 2021, the project has expanded to 23 of Washington’s school districts across the state.

Speakers Linda Segur and Jeff Allen will join this virtual workshop as part of the Vashon Beloved Community series. Linda has 30 years’ experience providing professional development training and family education to support more trauma-sensitive, hope-centered workplaces and relationships. Jeff serves as the chair for the Olympic Workforce Development Council Youth Committee and previously chair of the Kitsap Commission on Children and Youth.
