At Byrd Barr Place, formerly CAMP, we’ve been a cornerstone in the Black community of the Central District and greater Seattle for over 60 years. While we’ve honored the names most associated with our organization, it’s time we shine a light on the everyday heroes who laid the foundation and kept our doors open—those who volunteered, ran daycare services, helped with relicensing, and so much more. These unsung champions shaped our community, one person at a time.
On February 22nd, Byrd Barr Place will host a special event to celebrate these individuals and honor their invaluable contributions. This is our chance to give them their flowers and secure their legacy as part of our shared history.
