Space to connect and create!

In person community connection through Pottery.

When one of our coalition members, Ed King, Executive Director of Pottery Northwest, attended our fall retreat and mentioned how amazing Pottery and the studio would be for a community event – we got right on it!

We invite you to an evening of nurture and creativity over food and art. Guests are invited to choose between two offerings via RSVPs.

We chose this activity because pottery is more than an artistic form; it is a holistic practice that nurtures the mind, body and spirit while connecting people to community.

Wheel Throwing Experience

Up to 15 people will experience what it is like to throw on a wheel. Participants will learn the foundational basics of wheel throwing including how to center the clay on the wheel, and how to pull the clay into a simple form like a cylinder or a bowl. Wheel throwing is a complex skill and takes a long time to learn, so keep in mind that you may not be able to throw a complete form on your first try. View this as a fun experience of what wheel throwing is like! Each participant will be able to choose one piece to keep if they throw something they would like us to fire. Studio techs will glaze and fire the work for you. Pieces will be ready for pick-up in 4-6 weeks.

Functional Handbuilding Workshop

Up to 20 people will learn how to build a functional item through hand-building. This could be a mug, a trinket box, or a planter. Participants will learn both construction and surface detail. You can decorate using texture and colored underglazes. Everyone can select their favorite piece for our studio team to fire and glaze. Please allow 4-6 weeks for pieces to be ready for pickup.
